Apologies: Richard Field
The minutes of the meeting of 10 October were approved.
Donation
We agreed a donation of £500 for Merlin Hanbury-Tenison’s trust.
Bank authorities
It was agreed that Jeremy would be removed and Richard and Phil added. Martin will need to sign the form.
Website
The website is out of date and the facebook page is not effective. It was agreed that Jenny will speak to Richard to find out where we are on this and explore whether a student (maybe Bodmin college) could be asked to help with this.
Planning matters
Camel river
Planning restrictions for Camel SAC are to be lifted well before SW water’s work to improve the sewerage capability in 2030. Concern that the Halgavor planning application might well go ahead despite Bodmin council, CPRE and others objections. Hengor Manor tributary is in an awful state.
Helland
Mark Quin has bought two neighboring farms in Blisland. A pre application for wind turbines has been submitted. Jenny to speak to Richard to understand what objections we have submitted.
Future events
Jeremy had suggested Jennie Hale might do a talk for members, it was agreed to approach her via Jeremy and see which dates would work for her. Possible venue is the reading room opposite the Jamaica Inn.
Activity on Bodmin moor
Marsh fritillary survey. Alan has been working with David Attwell who has been involved over the last 10 years. The data shows the population on the moor is strong. Over grazing is a problem. There are 50 sites so we can see where the problems are. Hamerthetty common is over grazed and Natural England are trying to reduce numbers. Kerrin Poland is the NE contact who is responsible for the moor. He controls funding for farmers’ schemes. Peatland restoration is an important criteria for funding. Rural Payments Agency (RPA) are important as their funding decisions have a big impact. Local community will get involved in peat restoration funding of £5,000 secured.
St Breward wild life has changed its name to More Wild. Blisland are hosting the next National Landscape workshop meeting (18th March in the village hall). Wildlife Groundswell are facilitating.
